I hope you are working on your advent calendar.  It is so much easier doing a little at a time.  I understand from someone that completed their project in one day that it took about 7 hours from start to finish.  I can believe that as I have my pieces cut out but still have to put my calendar together and have already spent hours on it.  Remember, you can make substitutions and changes to individualize your project.  I substituted some DSP squares as I didn't have all of the Christmas packs.  Hard to believe a paper lover like me was missing a paper pattern but yes, it's true.  Now, on to day 4.

1. Cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock 2 by 2"
2. Using a 1 1/4" square punch, punch out one piece of Whisper White Card stock
3. Stamp image using Garden Green ink in the middle of the Whisper White card stock.  Conversely, the image can be stamped then punched out with a 1 1/4" square punch.
4. Optional: Using different color markers color each element of the image in different colors i.e. the number 4 in garden green, the presents in cherry cobbler, the star in daffodil delight, and the lines around the stamp garden green.  I did this in a couple of calendars and I like it much better.
5. Adhere the Whisper White to the  2 by 2" piece of Cherry Cobbler.
6. Adhere the Cherry Cobbler to the back of the scalloped peek-a-book window
7. For the lid:  stamp the number 4 in Cherry Cobbler ( I cut my numbers out using the big shot and the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet)
8. Punch out with a 1/2" circle punch
9. Adhere to a 1" chocolate chip circle
10. Adhere this to the outside of the window lid

ADVENT CALENDAR DAY 3

DAY 3

Day 3 has only one view as the peek-a-boo window was not used.  Maria's instructions are below:

• Cut a 2" by 2"piece of Chocolate Chip card stock
• Punch 1 Garden Green scallop square
• Stamp image in Cherry Cobbler and clear emboss ( you may choose not to emboss)
• Attach image to green scallop square
• Attach this to the 2 by 2" Chocolate Chip card stock with dimensionals  

Tip: If you choose not to clear emboss you can spray your image with shimmer spray.  The recipe is as follows:  You will need pure rubbing alcohol, available at any drugstore, a small spray bottle ( I use an empty Stampin' Mist Spray Cleaner bottle ) and Shimmer Paint color of choice ( Champagne Mist, Frost White, Platinum) my favorite is Platinum.  Fill your spray bottle with about 2 oz of alcohol and add about 1/2 tsp. of paint. ( I add a little more as I like a lot of shimmer) you can always add more but, you don't want it to get too thick.  Shake well and spritz!  I love using this to add a bit of sparkle to cards.

DAY 2

 

As you can see there is only one view for day 2 as a peek-a-boo-frame was not used.  Note:today you will be using 2 colors on one stamp therefore, you will need to use markers to color each part of the stamp.  If you prefer the stamped image to be one color you can, of course, use a stamp pad.  Maria's instructions are below:

• Cut a piece of  Whisper White Card Stock 2" by 2"
• Using Curly Label Punch, punch one chocolate chip punch
• Apply Cherry Cobbler and Garden green markers directly onto stamp -color the number and the holly berries with Cherry Cobbler, and the rest with Garden Green.  Huff on the stamp and stamp image onto Whisper White Card Stock
• Carefully cut out stamped image with paper snips
• Attach cut out image to chocolate chip curly label punch using dimensionals
• Attach this to center of the 2 by 2" piece of Whisper White card stock

ADVENT CALENDAR DAY ONE

One of my SUDSOL sisters, Maria Vanderform, is posting each day of the Advent Calendar with outside and inside views.  Thanks to Maria and her generosity I am able to share day one with you today.

These are her instructions to complete day one:


Stamp the image from the Day 1 stamp with Garden Green ink on Whisper white card stock twice. Punch one image with the 1" square punch and mount on a 2 by 2" piece of Whisper White card stock
Attach this 2 by 2" piece at the back of the die cut piece making sure it is centered and facing the right way up.
Cut out the snowflake image from the second one.  Cover it with dazzling diamonds and mount it on the flip up lid of the Cherry cobbler die.
Using your scissors, carefully cut out the word "one" and notch both ends. 
Mount it over the snowflake.

To complete day one you will need :

Garden Green Ink ( pad 102272 or marker 100080) These stamps are small so if you don't have the Garden Green Stamp pad you can use your marker to color the image, huff and stamp

Additional items you might need include snail or adhesive of choice, scissors or snips and for the completed project you will need a 12 x 12 frame.  I had difficulty finding one that was reasonably priced so I bought a 11 3/4 x 15 3/4 at IKEA, which I have not used yet. ( still hoping to find a 12 x 12) One of my friends found one at a thrift store for just a few dollars.  What luck!  If I decide to use my frame I will have to be creative with the top and bottom to fill in the space.  


I have a chart that lists the number of each shape and color you need to complete the calendar.  I did make a few substitutions as I did not have one of the Designer Series Paper packs when I cut mine out.  That is the nice thing about a project like this, you can change it around to make it your own.  If you would like a copy of the chart please leave a comment including your e-mail address.
