VALENTINE BANNER

I made this cute Valentine Banner using pages from an old Dictionary, Real Red card stock, Basic Black card stock and the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies from the Occasion Mini Catalog.  I cut the largest heart, which has a scalloped edge, from a dictionary page, with the second largest heart cut from Real Red card stock layered on top of it using dimensionals.  BE MINE was cut using Timeless Type Junior Alphabet.  The hearts are attached to Cherry Connler Bakers Twine with Mini Glue Dots.

I have it hanging from the wooden armoir which houses my stamps.

SEASON OF FRIENDSHIP VALENTINE

Happy Friday!  I have two Valentine cards made with the same stamp set.  The Season Of Friendship has become one of my go to stamp sets.  I love the versatility and the seasonal variations included in the set.  You have a snowflake for Winter, flowers for Spring and leaves for Summer and Fall.

The first card has a Marina Mist card stock base. The Baja Breeze card stock  layer is cut 1/4" smaller than the base; my base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  The snowflakes are stamped on the Baja Breeze layer with Marina Mist ink. I dotted the center of each snowflake with a dab of glue and sprinkled a little Dazzling Diamonds on to give it a little sparkle.  The snow is a piece of Whisper White card stock torn away from me.

TIP:  If you want your edges to look shabby or distressed tear the paper towards you.  If you want your edges to look clean, tear the paper away from you.

The heart is punched from a scrap of Real Red card stock with the Small Heart punch, the string it is hanging on is a piece of Linen Thread glued with Tombow glue.

My Second card is very similar to my first with the base changed to Real Red Card Stock and the second layer of Whisper White card stock is cut smaller at 3 1/2" x 4".  The snowflakes are not as obvious when stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  A piece of 1/8" teal Red Taffeta Ribbon tied around the bottom of the card and the greeting  from  Take it to Heart and PS I Love you stamp sets ( from the Occasions Mini Catalog) complete the card.  This tree is stamped in Early Expresso, the tree on the above card is stamped from Sahara Sand.

Tip:  Don't forget to put a piece of white card stock on the inside of your card so you can write or stamp a sentiment.

Now for a cute Valentine box.  This vintage box was designed by Frances for our stamp camp.  Isn't it pretty?  This is one of Stampin' Up!'s Kraft Boxes covered with squares of Beau Chateau DSP, with a piece of 1/4" Early Expresso grosgrain ribbon tied around it.   We used a piece of Victoria Crochet Trim tied in a knot around the Early Expresso.  To finish it off we made a flower for the top out of Beau Chateau, Pretty in Pink and First Edition Specialty Paper punched with the Fancy Flower punch.  To make the flower punch 2 of each color/ print of paper, crumple each flower into a tight ball, open it enough to punch a small hole in the middle ( you can use 1/16" circle handheld punch or the punch from your punch pack)  Attach all of the layers together with a brad and smash it together and arrange it until you like the look of your flower.  Tip:  you can work your piece of paper by crumpling it and straightening it a number of times then put it through a crimper 5 or 6 times until it is distressed and the edges begin to split.  Pull the layers apart and you will have 2 faux suede flowers ( use the inside pieces from the split to the outside for the suede look)  Do this with all of your flower pieces and your flower will look softer and fuller.

Hope you enjoy making your box and please contact me with any questions.

Here is another card from our stamp a stack. The base is Basic Gray card stock cut 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  The second layer of Whisper White card stock was cut 4"x 5 1/4", embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and attached to the card base.  Next cut a piece of  3"x 4" Basic Gray card stock and finish the bottom edge with the punch or die of your choice.  Do Not attach it to the white piece of card stock yetTip:  If you choose to use the Tasteful Trim Big Shot die you will need to have two pieces of gray, cut about 1 1/2" x 4". Run one through the Big Shot and attach it to the other piece along the bottom edge with Sticky Strip.  Now, I  get to write my new favorite word, Twitterpated... Cut a piece of Twitterpated DSP 1 1/2" x 3 3/4" and attach to the top half of your gray card stock, making sure to leave a frame of gray on the top and sides.  Take a piece of Riding Hood Red Pleated Satin Ribbon and attach over the seam between your two gray pieces or your DSP bottom edge, wrap your ribbon around the side edges and attach the ribbon ends to the back of the gray piece.  Now, attach the gray layer to your embossed white layer; mine is in the middle.   Stamp the cupid from the P.S. I Love You stamp set on Whisper White card stock, punch out the stamped image using the Extra Large Oval punch and mount it to a piece of Riding Hood Red card stock which has been run through the Oval Designer Frame embossing folder and hand cut around the outside.  Stamp the text frame from the P. S. I Love You stamp set in Riding Hood Red on Whisper White card stock, stamp your greeting in Basic Black in the center of your frame and punch it out using Modern Label punch.  Frances used Large Pearl Basic Jewels from the Occasions Mini to finish off her greeting.  The mounted cupid and the greeting are attached with dimensionals.  Didn't Frances do a great job with this card?  We hope you have enjoyed it.

P.S. I LOVE YOU

I'm three weeks out from my knee surgery and I honestly can't tell much difference.  The weather is warm one day and cold the next so that probably isn't helping the healing process. I am still in PT but ready to be able to move around better than I am.  Oh, well so goes the aging process.  My next post is using the new Labels Collection Framlits from the Occasions Mini Catalog page 6.

I made this card using Melon Mambo card stock, which is a non-traditional Valentine color for me.  I usually stick with the Red, Black and White and sometimes Pink.  I'm pleased with the finished card, maybe next time I will emboss cupid or make him sparkle. Today is short and sweet.

My card base is Whisper White card stock cut 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  The Melon Mambo card stock is cut 1/4" in smaller at 5 1/4" x 4",dry embossed along the bottom using the heart pattern Adorning Accents Embossing Folder, Page 7 in the Occasions Mini Catalog, and attached to the card base with snail. The Larger Label is cut from Whisper White card stock, graduated to the next smaller size cut in Melon Mambo card stock and the smallest label is cut from Whisper White card stock and stamped with the cupid stamp from the PS I love You stamp set, page 8 of the Occasions Mini. I mounted the largest label to the Melon Mambo card stock using my snail and used dimensionals between the next 2 layers to give it a bit of dimension. I stamped the frame of the label and chose the greeting to stamp in the middle of the frame, punched it out and taa daa a cute Valentine card is complete.

If you would like to order any of the items used for this card just click on shop now and you will be taken to my online store.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

That's it for today.

New Framelits

I played with these last weekend and would like to share this Video with you so you can see how easy they are to use.  I looked at them and thought hmm how hard is this going to be?  It's easy peasy and I love the versatility of them.  I can cut this shape in the middle, side top or bottom of anything without having to figure out how I am going to get there from the edge.  Any of you feel the pain?  This is one of the greatest items SU has brought into their line and I'm lovin' them.

IT'S A SNAP IT'S JUST A SCRAP

I was stamping with a friend, it was getting late, I was tired, so I stopped and was watching her finish a little gift box she was working on.  I looked down at the scraps from the box and the back of a piece of scrap caught my eye. I love this paper and I love to say Twitterpated.  It is such a fun word!  Anyway, this is my KISS (Keep It Simple Stamper) card I made with the scraps. The greeting is a little wonky but I still think the card turned out nice.

These  scraps are from the ....say it, Twitterpated DSP in the Occasions Mini.  I used the Take it to Heart C 125522   W 125520  stamp set for the hearts stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink 119669.  The Greeting is from the P.S. I Love You C 125462   W 125460 stamp set, also in the mini.  If you wanted to step it up a notch you could stamp the larger heart, cut it out using the new Framelits Dies Hearts Collection 125599 and pop it up on a dimensional.

CRAFT SHARES

This is the last day of Christmas craft shares.  I made this cute reindeer using the Owl Punch, (with his feet cut off, ouch) in Chocolate Chip Card Stock 102128. His antlers are punched using the Snowflake Punch 119852 in Whisper White Card Stock 100730, his nose was punched using the Red Glitter Paper (which has been carried over from the Holiday Mini) 121790.  I backed him with Real Red Card Stock 102482 run through the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder 117335 and punched with the  1 3/4" Circle Punch 119850  mounted on a piece of Silver Glitter Paper (which also has been carried forward from the Holiday Mini) 124005 punched with the Scallop Circle Punch 119854.  I put 2 red and white polka dot pencils in our 1 x 8 Cellophane Bags 124134 and finished it off with a bow out of Real Red 1/8" Taffeta ribbon.

Next  up is a Santa Twizzler.  Santa is made using Whisper White Card Stock 100730 for his beard,  trim of his cap and his mustache.  Punch out the beard using the Ornament Punch 119847and the rim of his cap with the Wide Oval Punch 119859.  His mustache is the from the Bird Builder Punch 117191 wing .  I used Blushing Bride Card Stock 119796 for his nose and face punching his face with the Large Oval Punch 119855 and nose from and the eyes from the the Owl Builder Punch 118074.  His hat is Real Red Card Stock 102482 run through the Snow Burst Embossing Folder 124096 and cut in half.  To assemble: attach the  Blushing Bride Oval to the Whisper White Wide Oval .  Attach the beard to your oval sandwich using a Real Red piece of card stock for his mouth ( you can small circle punch a piece or cut a small piece) and Basic Black circles for his eyes.    The mustache is glued on top of your punch sandwich and topped with the circle for his nose (you might choose to pop these up on dimensionals).  Attach his cap to the back of the Whisper White wide oval .  I use a second Whisper White wide oval for the back to make it look neater and cleaner after I attached my 1 x 8 Cellophane Bags 124134 with the Twizzler to the back of the Santa face.  I finished it off with a leaf sprig punched with the Bird Builder Punch 117191 out of Old Olive Card Stock 100702 attached to the top of the rim of his hat.

I saw some cute glittered red, gold, and silver scented tea light candles and decided to use an idea I had seen Dawn Griffith use.  This little Lollipop is a cute way to give a small remembrance and quick and easy to make.  Glue the back ( I used a hot glue gun) of the tea light to a sucker stick; you can find these in most craft or baking supply stores.  I put a circle of DSP or card stock on the  back to make it look neater.  Put the candle lollipop in one of our clear 3 x 5 cellophane bags, tie it closed with the ribbon of choice, add a tag and you're done.  Sadly the glitter is not showing up in this picture.  It was so sparkly I just loved it!
OOPS! This tree is not leaning must have been my unsteady hand when I took the pic with my IPhone.

Last but not least is my Real Red Christmas tree made from 20 lollies gradually decreasing both length and width in size.  The edges are punched with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch 117649 and the tree is topped with another lollie made from DSP.  I made this from a purchased tutorial that I tweaked a bit.  I believe the width is decreased by 1/4" and length would depend on how many layers you wanted.  I had a free tutorial that was not decreased as the small intervals of this one so it seemed there were huge gaps between some layers as opposed consistent graduation of this tree.

That's it for the Christmas crafts.  Hope you enjoyed some of my ideas.  I will be sharing my Valentine ideas in the coming weeks. Although I love the traditional I have a few that are using non traditional colors.

Until then.

CRAFT SHOW post 3

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  This year I resolved not to make any resolutions, instead I have promised myself to accept each day for what it is not dwelling on the past or depending on the future. What are your resolutions? Whatever they are blessings to you for 2012.

Just a few reminders before I continue.
The CLEARANCE RACK is being updated daily, stop by to take a peek here .  Tomorrow is the last day to order from the HOLIDAY MINI CATALOG.  I have posted the carry forward list of items that will be available after the closing date on my blog.  DON'T FORGET! if the Stocking Builder Punch 124095 was on your wish list, it will not be available after tomorrow! You can order it by going to the shop now button in the upper right hand corner of my blog.

For my share today I have cute Mr. and Mrs. Santa boxes.  I made these as well as elf and reindeer boxes a few years ago using Gretchen Barron's tutorial.  This year I have only the Santa's.  I filled them with shred to make a cute gift box.

I used Gretchen's tutorial to make both of the boxes behind the faces using Real Red card stock 102482.  The faces are made using the Top Note Die 113463 and some left over blush blossom (discontinued) card stock I had.  Don't forget to sponge the edges of your pieces to give the faces a bit of dimension. Mrs. Clause was made using the following:  Her hair is made using Whisper White card stock 100730 which was run through the Big Shot in an embossing folder and punched with the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch 119854.  I used three punches you could use more if you wanted another layer of hair on the top.  The holly leaves in her hair were made using the Large Oval 119855 punched out of Old Olive card stock 100702 with little punch bites taken out with the 1/2" circle punch 119869.  Her eyes are punched out of Whisper White card stock 100730 using the 3/4" Circle Punch 119873 and her eyelids are punched out of blushing bride card stock with the same punch and cut in half.  I used the Owl Builder Punch 118074 for the pupil of her eyes and the White Gel Pen 105021 to add a little detail.  Her glasses are punched from Brushed Gold card stock 102935 using the 1 3/4'' 119873 and 1 1/4" 119861 Circle Punches.  Her nose is punched  in blushing bride card stock using the 1/2" 119869 Circle Punch.  Her collar is punched with the Scallop Oval Punch 119856  from Whisper White card stock 100730 which was run through an embossing folder.  The smile is hand drawn and I used pearls I colored with marker and a button to finish off the holly and her collar.

Mr. Clause's face is made exactly like Mrs. Clause with the exception of no glasses and the addition of a beard.  lol    The hat for Mr. Clause is a Top Note die 113463 cut from Real Red card stock 102482 and cut in half diagonally.  The trim on his hat is Whisper White card stock 100730 run through an embossing folder and punched using the Scallop Oval Punch 119856.  His beard is Whisper White card stock 100730 run through an embossing folder and the Big Shot using the Top Note Die 113463.  I turned it around and ran it through a second time cutting the end off.  His mustache was made using the same process only the second cut is much thinner.  I used a small piece of Real Red card stock 102482 cut from the small oval punch
( which has been discontinued ) for his mouth, behind his mustache.  You could use a circle punch as well.  I finished Mr. Clause off with a pom, pom on the tip of his hat.

I have one more day of Christmas craft items and then will move on to Valentines and items from the new Occasions Mini Catalog.  I apologize for posting Christmas so late, I had knee surgery and a bad reaction to some pain medication so I have unfortunately fallen behind.
