ADVENT CALENDAR DAY 8

Ready for the second week of your Advent Calendar? 

 DAY 8

1. Using the Day 8 stamp and Chocolate Chip marker, highlight just the number 8 and stamp it on Garden Green card stock
2. Punch out with 1/2" Circle Punch and put aside
3. Color the word "eight" with the Cherry Cobbler marker, and the deer with the Chocolate Chip marker, huff on the stamp and stamp the image on Whisper White card stock.  Clean the stamp well. 
4. Punch the image with 1" Square Punch
5. Apply Chocolate Chip marker to the deer only and stamp on Whisper White card stock
6. Cut out the second image of the deer.
7. Punch one Curly Label out of the Cherry Cobbler card stock
8. Cut one 2 by 2" piece of Frostwood Lodge designer paper
9. Adhere the 1" focal image square onto the Curly Label punch.  Adhere the cut out deer above and to the side of the other deer.  See picture.
10. Adhere the Garden Green circle with the number 8 over the letter "E" of the word "eight"
11. Adhere the completed Cherry Cobbler focal image to the middle of the 2 by 2" piece of designer label.

CHUNKY FRAME ADEVENT CALENDAR

Hi Friends,
I had mentioned in Day 6, another way to do your Advent Calendar.  Kim Assaly made her calendar with the chunky frame that is on sale in the clearance rack.  Here are the pictures to give you a visual.  Lookie, how cute is this?!

 The felt wreath on the door is in the Holiday Mini Catalog and when you open the door.....

 

There is a family picture inside.  What a clever way to use this frame!

ADVENT CALENDAR DAY 7

DAY 7

I hope you are having a great start to your weekend.  Day 7 finishes the first week of your calendar.  
Here are your instructions:

1. Stamp image from Day 7 twice on Whisper White card stock using Cherry Cobbler ink
2. Punch out one image using the 1" square punch.
3. Carefully cut out the word "seven" from the second image.  Snip both ends to make it look like a banner
4. Attach the banner to the lid - approximately in the middle
5. Insert a metallic brad just above the notch of the lid
6. Mat the now 1" square second image with a 1 1/4" piece of Garden Green Card stock.
7. Attach both to a 2' by 2" square of chocolate chip card stock
8. Center and attach the chocolate chip card stock to the back of the Garden Green peek-a-boo window
9. Optional:  Apply dazzling diamonds to the white parts of the candy canes.

ADVENT CALENDAR DAY 6

DAY 6

It's a beautiful fall day in NorthCarolina,  sweater weather is what I call it.  Nice and crisp in the mornings and warmer as the day progresses.  I am originally from the mountains and the beautiful colors of the leaves, the smell of raked leaves burning and fireplace smoke makes my heart happy.  In the North Carolina Mountains they have a Woolly Worm Festival.  For those of you not familiar with woolly worms they are the fuzzy caterpillars that are found in abundance in the Fall.  According to myth the winter weather can be predicted by the colors of the woolly worms.  ( They are usually shades of brown, rust and black).  One of the activities at the festival is a woolly worm race; they race them up a piece of glass.  What Fun!

You are almost 1/4 of the way there!  By the end of October your calendar can be finished.  I have seen a few other ways of doing the Advent Calendar I thought I would share with you.  One unique method used the chunky calendar that is on sale in the clearance rack.  The middle of the frame was used for a family picture with a "door" made out of red cardstock you can open to view the picture.  The days were used around the outside of the picture door.  The "door" had the felt wreath on it that is on Page 30 of the mini catalog.  Another suggestion was putting the days on little boxes attached to a frame.  When opened there was a treat in the box.  I have not seen this pictured and am trying to figure out a way to do this.

Now, on to Day 6.  Today you have one view as the peek-a-boo window is not used.

1. Using chocolate chip ink, stamp the image from day 6 onto Whisper White card stock
2. Punch out image with 1 inch square punch
3. Mount on piece of 1 1/4 inch square of Garden Green card stock
4. Mount this on a Square scallop of Cherry Cobbler card stock
5. Attach ribbon and mini jingle bell 
   

 

Hint for threading your jingle bell:  Use a dental floss threader which can be found with the dental floss.  Works great!

ADVENT CALENDAR DAY 5

Before I give you the directions for day 5 I want to share an idea I saw on one Advent Calendar that really gave it a little extra bling.  The numbers were cut out of the red Glimmer Paper 121790 which really gave the project sparkle.  Now on to the directions for day 5, are you keeping up?

1. Using the Garden Green Marker, color only the number 5 on the stamp and stamp on Whisper White card stock
2. Punch out using 3/4" circle punch and attach to lid as shown in the picture above.
3. Stamp day 5 image with Cherry Cobbler ink onto Whisper White card stock.
4. Punch out with a 1" square punch.
5. Mat with a 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" piece of Garden Green card stock
6. Attach chocolate chip peek-a-boo piece centered over this.

I will have posts other than the calendar hopefully this weekend.  I am having camera problems.  My camera, phone and I-pod were stolen about 6 months ago and the camera I replaced my stolen one with, although the same brand, is just not taking quality pictures.  I guess I need to upgrade from a point and shoot.  Any suggestions on what kind of camera I should consider without spending mega bucks please leave me a comment or email me at kstandish@bellsouth.net.
