I am thankful that our roof problems are not as bad as I expected.

Today I would like to share a pair of shoes I made as a birthday present.  They are so stinkin' cute I had to show them to you!.  This idea is from Jan Farring, Thank you Jan   :)

                                                    

I know this looks like a black and white picture but the Day and Night specialty paper I used is black and white plus photographing them on a black sheet to cut the glare from the table gave them the effect.  The shoes are black and white polka dots oops! I didn't get a side view.  I will do better next time. :( The paper is double sided so I didn't need to line the shoes and the box is patterned inside and out.  I used scraps to make the flowers so they are multi design.  Hope you like them!

          

I used  NIGHT AND DAY SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER (116768) love it! The flowers were cut with the BIG SHOT DIE FLOWER DAISIES # 2 (114520). The center of the flower on the shoes is a CLEAR RHINESTONE BRAD (113144) and the center of the flower on top of the box has a FILIGREE BRAD (112577)

I had a Senior Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting Friday morning and missed making my thankful post.  I will be twice as thankful today ( smile)  I am thankful to be able to serve on the Senior Center Advisory board and for the friends I have made through the center.  I am also thankful that even though there were numerous people out of work Friday it was still a great day.  I even got dark chocolate and I am a chocolate kind of girl.

This morning is typical Fall weather.  Love it!  I wish I had time to crunch through leaves but, the Carolina Christmas Show is today.  I am thankful I am able to participate and hope to see some of you there!  I wish the Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School band good luck in the Christmas parade.  Go Bulldogs!  I am also thankful for my Southeast School family and friends that have been supportive through my rainy season.  You know who you are.

Today I am thankful for the rain, it has been raining (pouring)  in my life for over 6 months,  I prayed to learn to dance in the rain and I am learning, so thankful.

 Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass. It is about learning to dance in the rain. Stop telling God how big your storm is. Instead, tell the storm how big your God is.

 I am thankful for a phone call from my daughter and that I had to run an errand yesterday that took me through Historic Oakwood, in Raleigh.  Many  houses had been renovated since I was last through the area, the leaves were beautiful and swirling around the car like colorful snowflakes. Very peaceful, truly made me thankful for another day.

I am thankful I am able to go to Florida to spend a week with my Mom and Sis.  I look forward to sister week all year.  Leaving Thanksgiving night on the train, I haven't ridden on a train since I was 14.  Should be fun!

The past few weeks have flown by.  I participated in a craft fair at Garner United Methodist Church last weekend and the Garner Women's Club yesterday.  Next Saturday I am at Carolina Christmas at the Raleigh Civic center, be sure to come by and see me Saturday from 2-6 after the Raleigh Christmas parade.  

My Decemer newsletter will be coming out soon as well as my 12 Days of Christmas. A side request, not pertaining to stamping.  I have a friend in Charlotte that is collecting bottled water caps.  There is a local doctor that will give a free dialysis treatment for x (not sure of the number) bottle caps he receives.  I can't imagine not having my kidneys functioning and the expense involved with the treatment. Please save your caps for me, contact me and I will be glad to pick them up.

I can't believe it's almost the end of October!  So many things to make with so little time.

Last weekend I was at a girl's weekend at the beach playing with my Stampin' Up! toys.  I love the votive candle luminaries I have seen posted and decided to make one.  The first one I made using the Holy Triptych stamp set with gold embossing and very vanilla textured card stock.   I had my Delightful Decorations stamp set and ornament punch so I decided to make a luminary using an embossed ornament.  This was more difficult than I imagined.  The reach on the punch was short so I couldn't center my punch and my punch was wider than my square as well.  Hmmmm.  The oval punch I used for my first luminary was easy as pie.  I folded two sqaures together and punched! The Ornament couldn't be punched sideways or it would be ... well, sideways. lol  To solve the problem I shortened the height and made my box sides wider, here is the finished product!  I went to the dollar store and bought the battery operated flickering tea light candles and voila, a beautiful look for your table or to give as a gift.

Here are the directions:
Real Red textured card stock cut 12 x 4 1/2
score at 1/4" , 3 1/4", 6 1/8" and 9"
Vellum card stock 1001856 cut 2 1/2 x 2 1/2
Scallop punch the top of your paper , I used the scallop edge punch 112091, you may prefer the eyelet border punch 113692
center your ornament punch 116794 in the center of your square, I punched two at once, and punch out your ornament design
Stamp your vellum card stock with your Delightful Decorations stamp 16517 using versamark ink102283
Cover your stamped area with gold embossing powder 109129 carefully tapping off any excess powder
Heat the ambossed area with your heat tool 100005 until the entire image is shiny.
Center your image in your punched area and secure with sticky strip 104294  ( I tried snail but the sticky strip holds much better )

How pretty is that?!

It's girl's weekend at the beach :)  12 of us left Wednesday from our various locations and met at Ocean Isle Beach for the weekend.  The weather was beautiful until today but the drizzly and gray weather hasn't kept us from having a good time.  Some of us are stamping, some scrapbooking and I am doing both. The house is on the beachfront, you can see the dolphins swimming from the front porch.  Great view, great company.  Life is Good!

 Today I would like to share a card made with the medallion stamp and the Sizzix pop-up Christmas tree die.  The medallion stamp is the most popular stamp and very versatile.  This card was created by Susan Peters and I must say the picture doesn't do it justice.  The medallion is embossed in silver with the tree popping up when the card is opened and folding when the card is closed.  You can't see the tree when the card is closed so what a surprise when you open the card and up pops a decorated tree!  The picture below is the tree mounted on scallop circles cut with the Sizzix Big Shot scallop circle die.  This is a cute gift or can be used as a table decoration.
